Dr Swanson: GMOs Cause Increase in Chronic Diseases, Infertility and Birth Defects

Posted on Apr 27 2013 - 1:44am by Sustainable Pulse

Dr. Nancy Swanson from the US has supplied Sustainable Pulse with her detailed recent reviews of the connections between GMOs, glyphosate-based herbicides and an increase in chronic diseases, infertility and birth defects.

Argentina GMO and Roundup poisoning

Swanson’s reviews can be read here and alongside the peer-reviewed review paper released last week which has caused a stir around the World over the dangers of Roundup, pressure is now being put on Monsanto to withdraw their number one product from the market.

Dr. Swanson states that “Prevalence and incidence data show correlations between diseases of the organs and the increase in Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in the food supply, along with the increase in glyphosate-based herbicide applications. More and more studies have revealed carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting effects of Roundup at lower doses than those authorized for residues found in Genetically Modified Organisms.”

“The endocrine disrupting properties of glyphosate can lead to reproductive problems: infertility, miscarriage, birth defects, and sexual development (see notes). Fetuses, infants and children are especially susceptible because they are continually experiencing growth and hormonal changes. For optimal growth and development, it is crucial that their hormonal system is functioning properly…. The endocrine disrupting properties also lead to neurological disorders (learning disabilities (LD), attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder). Those most susceptible are children and the elderly.” Swanson continued.

Dr. Swanson, who has a  Ph.D. in physics and worked as a staff scientist for the United States Navy, holds five U.S. patents and is the author of over 30 scientific publications and two books on women in science.

Swanson herself became seriously ill with a number of complaints 10 years ago and found that after stopping eating GMOs her symptoms got dramatically better. This led her to start her journey of discovery: “About every other week the Seattle Times published something about how this or that is skyrocketing (Parkinson’s, dementia, Alzheimer’s, ADHD, suicide). I was pondering this and I had an inspiration to look at the data and compare it to the amount of GMOs on the market. The more I found the scarier it got.”

It’s an absolute outrage. It’s worry some that so many people are fooled about this issue.

I guess Most people don’t really get how unethical and blatantly evil companies like Monsanto and Bayer are. You can’t see chemicals, the damage is mostly internal, genetic. People are more upset by regular dirt on a vegetable than the horrific chemicals being unleashed on us!
When our bodies stop functioning in their normal protective way, more than they do now, Monsanto knows we will be hard pressed to actually (in a court of law) trace these horrors back to them. By then, (or now) it will be too late.

When our “representatives” (so called) would not pass background checks for gun purchases… and could not be persuaded by actual dead bloodied bodies of 6 YEAR OLDS, what can we expect over chemical poisoning of our bodies.

It is horrifying that the financial health of a few is counted more important than the physical health of many.

Of course (as must be obvious), the refrain we’ve been hearing from the big ag-chemical companies is “correlation is not causation”.

I propose that the next obvious step is this. The autism rate has risen to the frightening level of 1 in 50, in the USA. At one time, it was supposedly 1 in 10000. Compare the US autism rate with the rate in countries like Germany, which does not allow GMOs. What do you suppose that will show?

Take a look at the pesticides that they are using. When you see mass culling of deer and gassing of geese and blackbirds and starlings being poisoned all by the U.S.D.A. you wonder what is going on or what are they covering up! I think that there is more to this story than what we are being told.

Is their anyway, we can get GMO foods in America to have the labels? Or to ban GMO’s?

We are applying about 750,000,000 pounds of glyphosate annually throughout the entire world. The U.S. is using about 300,000,000 of those pounds alone. No one, no body, no how could have ever begun to know what effect that would have on the environment.
