Dr. Árpád Pusztai, one of the most courageous independent scientists of the modern era, has passed away after a long battle with ill health at the age of 91. Dr. Pusztai was one of the first scientists to reveal the potential dangers of GMO crops.
Dr. Pusztai was a Hungarian-born biochemist and nutritionist who spent 36 years at the Rowett Research Institute in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was a world expert on plant lectins, authoring 270 papers and three books on the subject.
In 1998, Dr. Pusztai publicly announced that the results of his research showed feeding genetically modified potatoes to rats had negative effects on their stomach lining and immune system.
His accurate preliminary research led to the first joint attack by the UK and U.S. governments on an independent scientist on the GMO issue and involved a global polictical and scientific smear campaign, the likes of which have now been repeated again and again on other independent scientists who have warned of the dangers of GMOs and their associated pesticides.
The attack began after Pusztai gave a short interview to the BBC, in which he explained that although he believed in the beneficial use of genetic engineering in food, it was imperative that long-term safety tests be carried out before approval was granted for the widespread planting of GM Crops and due to this he would not eat GMOs himself. The reason for his comments in the interview was simple – he had just carried out some preliminary studies in which rats were fed with a genetically modified potato and the results had shocked him, including serious stomach and immune system damage.
Within a few hours of the interview, Pusztai was in the midst of a violent political attack. He was forbidden to comment further on his research. His research documents were confiscated and access to his laboratories was blocked. Shortly afterwards he was dismissed and expelled from the Royal Society. Pressure from the highest political and scientific authorities destroyed Dr Árpád Pusztai’s professional life within days.
Dr. Pusztai, however, always stood up for the truth and became a leading figure in the push for scientific independence and correctness. Pusztai is simply a legend, who will be celebrated globally for many years to come, as it was he who stood up to the current monopolistic and greedy Biotech industry and refused to be bullied by either them or their political and scientific cronies.
Thank you Arpad (and your wife).for your courageous service to us all! We will miss you and your solid example and extend sympathy and peace and the comfort of God to your wife and family on this difficult mile of their lives. God bless your memory and your family.
We absolutely know now people who are forced to eat cheap GMO foods have their immune systems destroyed and, therefore, die of the leaked bio-weapon called Covid.
In today’s world, there is so much loss and onslaught against humanity and natural order that I am seldom moved to to tears. Today was different. The death of Dr. Arpad Pusztai sent a feeling of loss and regret that could not have been greater. My regret is that I didn’t keep in touch with him to let him know how much I revered his contribution to humanity, his bravery in resisting the professional and personal attacks and his refusal to give in to evil. For me, he was the epitamy of professionalism, the champion of natural order via scientific integrity, and a hero. We briefly corresponded via the internet and I should have remembered him occasionally to let him know that he was a giant among humans.
There never lived a greater hero or scientist.
This is very sad news that Professor Arpad Pusztai has passed away((( As to me, He was a leader scientist who was the First to inform people around the world about possible dangerous impact on the human health to use GM products. He was honest as Scientist and as Personality in spite of reaction form the officials on his position. I would say Professor Arpad Pusztai is a Heroic Man and can be an example for other scientists. We will always keep a memory for him!!!
R.I.P., good doctor. You’ve lived a long and happy life, yet you were taken away from us far too early. Please be safe up high!
Sincerely,
Matthew Jonas
